Grades 3-8
Participation
Students can earn four points a day for participation (achievement) and citizenship. Students are required to wear rubber soled athletic shoes that completely cover the top of the foot. If a student wears the inappropriate shoes or clothing, he/she is unable to participate. This will result in the loss of 50% of points for that day. An alternative assignment will be provided for students who do not have the correct shoes.
Medical Excuses
In order to be excused from Physical Education class students need to have a note from his or her parents excusing them from physical activities (1 or 2 days). For long term Physical Education class excuses of a week or more a doctor's note is needed. Medical excuses need to be turned into the school nurse and she will inform the PE teachers.
Grades
Students in grades 3-8 will receive a letter grade in Physical Education.
Student grades will be based on
- Participation: Remember, you don't have to be the best! We want you to try your best to get better every day!
- Sportsmanship: Treat others with respect, use appropriate language, and display positive sportsmanship!
- Using Equipment With Respect: PE equipment is limited and expensive to replace! Equipment must be used correctly as described and demonstrated by the teacher.
- Be Prepared: Students need to come to class prepared with the correct shoes and clothes. Due to safety concerns, students wearing sandals, heels or another shoe unfit for activity will be required to complete an alternate assignment and will receive a 50% point reduction for the day!
