Dear Parents/Guardians and Students,
The following is a list of the 7th and 8th grade standards your child is expected to follow. Please review the following information with your child. Some of this information is also included in the teacher class syllabus. School-Wide Expectations: The West Wing WAY At West Wing School, we prioritize respect, compassion, integrity, and celebration. We believe in creating a supportive and inclusive learning environment where all students can thrive and reach their full potential. Our campus will utilize behavior interventions and restorative practices instead of traditional discipline, when appropriate, to foster growth, and understanding and to protect the learning environment for all students. Thank you for being a part of our positive behavior community!
Pick Up / Drop Off Please take a look at the following drop off/pick up link: https://www.dvusd.org/Page/1673
Step System for Behavior
Step 1: Students who are not exhibiting the West Wing Way will be given a step sheet to be signed by a parent and returned the next day to the teacher who assigned the step. This is an opportunity for the student to improve their behavior.
Step 2: Students will be sent out to a buddy teacher’s classroom to complete a reflection that must be signed by a parent and returned the next day to the teacher who assigned the step. Students will be assigned a lunch detention. Parents receive an email from the teacher.
Step 3: Students who continue to not exhibit the West Wing Way will be given a step sheet to be signed by a parent and returned the next day to the teacher who assigned the step and will be issued an office referral. Discipline consequences are progressive and follow the DVUSD Student’s Rights and Responsibilities Handbook which will be communicated by administration to the student and family.
**Steps start over monthly and students have an opportunity to improve their behavior
** Incentives All students will have the opportunity to earn Mustang Money by exemplifying the West Wing Way. Students will be able to use their Mustang Money to buy prizes during their recess when the store is open.
